Garuda....yes another never-ending questions pop up again inside my head....
Who and what did pioneer this brand??

Well, this is the best Garuda watch I have at the moment :P Got it from my watch colleagues :)
And it's automatic all of my Garudas before this have manual winding, so this is my first automatic Garuda.
It's a little bit hard(or harder?) to get automatic type of Garuda, hopefully I'll find another in the future.

My guess, during The Asian African Conference which took place on April 18–24, 1955 in Bandung(West Java), Indonesia.
The conference was organized by Indonesia, Burma, Pakistan, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and India and was coordinated by Ruslan Abdulgani, secretary general of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The conference's stated aims were to promote Afro-Asian economic and cultural cooperation and to oppose colonialism or neocolonialism by either the United States or the Soviet Union in the Cold War, or any other imperialistic nations. The conference was an important step toward the crystallization of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The first time, I got the watch the bracelet was so short so I asked my local watchmaker to find extra link. He found extra link and installed in his way, maybe the needle wasn't available so he installed it with fixed(like soldering) way. For me it doesn't matter coz at the bottom of the clasp.

The movement using cal. 1020 still in the great shape, only minor corrosion as I always find in the Omega movement.

I wouldn't say the watch in mint condition, just see it by yourself.... :))

This is Seiko 5 Military SNK809 the new model using cal.7S26B.
Cal.7S26B is the most common movement ca. late 1990-now

I like this Seiko military coz of the simplicity yet the shape of the case and its dial. And as one of my daily beater watches.
The price also not too much for this watch. So, I took this watch and change it with yellow pharos strap.
After a while with original look, I've modified her with blue dial, blue hands but still using original second hand and with yellow pharos strap.
This is my first planning since the blued second hand always stop near 6 o'clock after 1 minute lap.
I couldn't find the reason why?? But after using the original second hand she runs perfectly.... yipie....

Wow, cool man..... I'm thinking of another orange hands, just wait....

Garuda, couldn't find about the history of the brand in the web.
All I know is, in 1962 Indonesia was having the ASIAN Games and the souvenir watch is TITUS.

And since the 1st president of Indonesia. Ir. Soekarno was an artistic, nationalism, elegant, classy, and neat person. He wanted to have a local brand watch with international quality.
At that time the well-known watch is produced from Swiss. So, maybe, it came the brand "GARUDA"(Indonesian country logo) with Swiss movement.

Here, for sale GARUDA Crystal with NOS condition. The factory blue sticker still on the caseback! And manual movement.

Enicar, the first brand that hit my mind to collect vintage watches.
And also I already searched this type, known as Sherpa short lugs, for so long but after I got it.....
I fell like she doesn't "clicked" me, so with regret I have to let her go....

The photo was taken when I received the watch the first time.

Outer bezel, both are working. Inner bezel still working. And the date using pumping system and changing in midnight.

Once received I've never opened the caseback, afraid will add another scratch.
So, frankly speaking I don't know the movement but according from previous owner, it runs good...

This is one of my grail watch.

Ca. 94-95 when I was in high school, I already like the shape of Tag Heuer especially its logo, maybe under my unconscious thought I like it coz the same like the logo "5" in Seiko.

Brand Tag Heuer was crossed in my mind first then I learned that it came from the Heuer.

Anyway, after waiting for almost 15 years coz of the price and everything...
At last, this year I get the watch although a used one but I'm happy that one of my grail is reached.The previous owner, I thought a kind of neat-ty person, the watch almost in mint condition.
Just the bezel which the gold plated already detached some... but the others seem in perfect...
Even the machine..

This Tag is a boy size, my wrist is not big and the shape perfectly match on my wrist also with the jubile chain. Hmm.... I like it.

Based on my observation, most of the radium on Tag watches is easily aged not like other watch.
Like my watch the radium on its hands not working anymore and almost loosen....

Made me think... coz my other grail is Tag Aquaracer in blue dial....

Hello again....

Now, I want to share my other Swiss watch.

Mido Commander, I felt that this watch has the taste of Rolex style.
This watch was from my uncle and given to my father.
While my father is not like a kind of watch maniac, so I take it by force, he...he.. :))

All parts are still in orginal, except the bracelet. Coz, already broke and I used Seiko one, hmm... the same hah ??
The case, and plastic mica glass have never been polished. So, it shows scratches here and there...
I like the watch which has day and date like this one. And since its new watch so the day date already had hacking system.I don't have the pic of the movement of this watch as the watch opened thru glass... And I haven't had the knowledge to open thru glass yet....
So, I don't know the movement of this automatic machine. Anyone?

Titus 77 Titomatic part 2

As I promised before. Today, I'll talk about another Titus 77 of mine.

Basically, the physic is the same with the other one.
But this one has creme dial with flower pattern and dotted in the center of flower.
The index is the same and also the hands only this one using gold type not silver while the date using red color.

The edging of plastic glass not domed but rectangle and between lug at the top there is the SN not on the case back. Hhmmm.... reminds me of Rolex ;))
I combined it with yellow Paros strap.

Titus, an underdog Swiss watch but worth to collect for the affordable price.....
This is one of my collections of Titus 77.

Ok, cut the crap. Let's get on the watch as you could see the history in the article section.
On the silver-part aging dial it's written TITUS-Titomatic Jetpower super, 77 jewels and also with cross hair & the star.
I couldn't understand the meaning of Titomatic and Jetpower super? While another watch-Titoni claimed "Airmaster" ??
As I already explained in Titoni 77, this Titus also has 77 jewels which not all jewels have function as the "worker" but mostly as accessories just to show that the watch has so many jewels, he...he...

Anyway, the watch still have original domed plastic/mica glass with inner magnifier for date, spears hands, spears and bars index. Based on those criteria the watch was produced ca. 1950-60s.
Since produced at that time so doesn't have the hacking system for changing the date.
I should be patiently turn the hands 24 hours to change the date :D

Although, on the dial the brand shows TITUS but on the machine printed "Solvil et Titus", again don't know why??
The pic not from my watch, I'll update the machine from mine...

The watch is still in good condition and runs very very good.....

I couldn't find any about Titus watches history even in Wiki...
But I found in www.solvil-et-titus.com about its short history.

Paul Ditisheim (1868-1945), a well-known watchmaker and inventor, was an extremely prominent figure in the Swiss watch industry of his time. In 1887, he named one of the initial models he created, Titus, and thus the brand Solvil et Titus was born. Solvil, an abbreviation of Sonvilier, is the Jura village in which a factory for making watch components stood and Titus was a highly talented and skilled Roman Emperor of the first century.Ditisheim was immensely interested in researching and manufacturing chronometers, and was extremely successful at it, demonstrated by the fact that his products hold records for precision as deemed by the prestigious international trials carried out by the Royal Observatories of Kew-Teddington and Neuchâtel. Seiko 5 Automatic-My Daily Companion

Japanese brand with worldwide quality.

This is my first automatic watch I bought(2003-2004) and with its loyalty has been accompanying me for almost 5-6 years, without missed a single minutes, and still....

I didn't know why, I just felt in love with the logo "5" but other feels that that logo is for cheap watches.. :((.
I know, you could buy the Seiko "5" especially cal. 7S26/7S36, with below USD 100. With that amount you could get automatic watch. Some calls Seiko "5" as a million watches because of its mass production and the cheap value.

The logo "5" reflects the five essential features of the watch: shock resistant, water resistant, automatic, and day & date display.

My daily Seiko 5, it has black dial with repeated logo "5" printed on it, using bar index, even the hands too.
The crown located near 4 o'clock.

Since this watch was produced after 2000 then the case back is see thru glass. We can see the movement thru it.

Titoni 77 Airmaster-Gold Plated

Hello All,

We meet again...
It's been a while and today I urge my time to upload one of my collections.
Let's started...

Titoni, one of the most branded Swiss watch.
As you can see the model is Titoni Airmaster, the dial is black with smoothed circled lines(the color tends to very very light brown, maybe coz of the aging??).
The date is using red color.

Although the watch from 1970s but it moves ok and keeps the good time.
Still using the original crown and plastic/mica cover with inner magnifier to read the date, it has slight crack but you couldn't notice it, could you?

I know, maybe some of you compare it with Titus77(I'll upload soon..), maybe at that time the jewels represent the prestige of the watch but actually only 17-25jewels operated.
After most of the watches put more jewels with less function during that time the Swiss watch association(I don't know the exact name), forbid the usage of unnecessary jewels.
As you can see current watch, even the high-end class do not use as many jewels as this (Titoni77/Titus77).

Also, compares to Titus77, Titoni overs 1 advantage which is using additional 18K gold plated on the case back. Usually this gold plated already removed coz of the value rather than the watch itself :((.

This is my others boys toys.....
I know is a bit out of the context to post this toy but hey... the machine is operated using mechanical power and spring...

I don't know when this was made?? Maybe around 30 years before (ca. 1970-1980).
It was made by PRC(People's Republic of China), I know maybe some of you is skeptic about product of China.

But frankly said, during that time the quality was beyond current period.
As you could see the toy already 30 years but only small rust appeared and it runs in good condition with the bell sound. kring.....kring.....kring.....

Since I didn't play this toy in the past, so it's never too late to start over what I've missed. :-))

TITUS, Pocket Watch ca. 70

Today, it's my first time to upload one of my collection.

And one of it is Titus Pocket Watch, I had this watch from my father and maybe he got it from his father too.

I had some difficulties when taking pics of the pocket watch because the dial and the plastic-glass was reflecting the sunlight and also I was using camera phone. At last, not 100%! But, it's ok right?

The pocket watch is hand wound and still in great shape, no rust! Unfortunately I only had the watch minus the original chain :((.

The dial is in silver with smooth lining pattern, 42mm, 44mm with the crown, the hands consist only for hour and minute, the index using roman numbers, and there are 17 jewels inside that mechanical pocket watch.

And I don't know whether the crown still original or not? But it looks original to me.

Also I don't know when was the pocket watch made? Anyone? It's from 70s, thx ro chezz..
